3.0L SSRG Auto, tow bar and off road mods

Second post since a very long hiatus !

Looking for a 3.0 SSRG, preferably N reg, for towing and some off road stuff. Preferably something that has had the head replaced already, 120k Kms or less and .. well now I'm just being picky! Grey or Red/Maroon would be nice, custom stuff certainly looked at. Previously owned 2 surfs and getting back into it again

I have a budget in mind but pretty flexible and ready to buy asap.

It's a 3rd gen (but an early one, so has all 3rd gen mechanics (coil sprung etc, etc,) but does not have a differential in the centre transfer box).


And I only put a towbar on it six months ago.

I am selling my 1997 SSG Siliver Hilux, well maintained including all new suspension and tow bar, engine and gearbox A1.

So, I've not listed many of the mods and fixes I have done on the new 3.0 I bought. Here we go:

• All UJs on prop shafts
• New head, radiator
• Full filter changes and oil service all round
• Breather kit added to diffs and transmission
• 1.5" front lift, 2" reer lift
• split charge unit for batteries
• 8 rocker switches added to center console for:
  • Mains power on center console (rear) and fly lead in cubby hole at back)
  • outside pair of roof light
  • inside pair of roof lights
  • amber strobe warning lights
  • amber led strobing roof light
  • Reversing lights
  • split charge relay manuall override
• fog light and towbar electrics dircetly mounted on rear bumper instead of hanging down
• front cross section of chassis replaced as it was rotten
• full interior strip out clean, wiring under carpet and interior refit

THink that's just about it so far. Will be doing a rebuild of the rear axle soon as it sounds like the offside bearing has gone, and the diff pinion seal has gone Need new rear springs too, so seems silly not to just remove the whole axle and sand blast and paint it to protect it and change all the beaarings and seals.

Then some chequer plating.... probably the bonnet and the roof and then on to making a nice roof rack....
