The reason I'm selling is I'm looking to leave the UK. But I'm not sure when that is.

How urgent are you for a truck?

Had a look over the weekend, I think the doors will polish up fine. There are a few points where the laquer is flaking (small patch on the roof and a small patch on the top of a door frame), which I'll be sorting soon.

The only other parts are the plastic wheel arches. The previous previous owner looks to have sprayed them black (instead of silver) and there are a pair of bubbling areas. As they are plastic, I'll sand them down and re-spray at some point.

I'm looking for one before the end of Feb, I'd hope, but I'm not desperate. I'm into my mountain biking and with the saloon, it's a pain having to take the wheels off some of them or leave them on the back of a rack.

Another Saab estate would do it, but I've been a member on here for a few years because I like the Surf - it's an itch I haven't scratched. There's a couple of older models, 2nd gen, that also seem bargains bur I'd hate to shoot me bolt on these and then a nice 3rd gen come up at a reasonable price.

Do you think it's worth making these people listing them at 5, 6 even 8K(!!?) a real-world offer? I would be assuming the price they are charging reflects some attempt to gain back their (over)investment.

Also, any comments on these? I keep seeing them on the Trader, as you look at it, does the bumper/wheelarch shutline on the left look out? (accident damage?)...

Well if you are ever down this way (Reading area) you are more than welcome to have a look.

The reason I'm not jumping too quick is I'd need another (cheaper) car and then you factor in how reliable a cheap car would be it's a false ecconomy.

I think people are asking a lot to get their cash back after importing. Or they are just not aware how cheap 4x4s are at the moment.

To give you an idea, I paid £4k for mine 18 months ago. It was cheap as it was a mates, and it was a quick hassle free sale.

I'd fire them a mail asking why they think it's worth twice the going rate.

I work on email systems and anytime you post a full address on forums like these, they are caught by spam programs and the address gets targeted with junk mail. Hence me using a bit of discretion where possible.

I've made him an offer below asking price if he got the screen done and put 6 months rent in the window. I'll not lose sleep otherwise. I don't need to pay over the odds. Fuel up to Bolton to factor in too

LOL he didn't like that. I offered £2750 with him fixing the screen and and tax for 6 months. Not unreasonable given what's been discussed here, I felt. He replied...

"NO, I have sold about 25 of these in the past few years and I know what they are worth."

Too much for you then ! but I have to test the water you never know there may be serious Surf punters out there that want a serious 3rd Gen intercooled Beast that has been nurtured looked after, pamperd waxed, used as a sex palace etc etc etc the list goes on... but I want a 4th Gen It is my destiny

Ice has sent his pics, thank you. It's intercooled, so he may be out of my budget. I was looking to spend not much more than 3K, which by all accounts is doable, given the right vehicle.
