The big round holes are definatly not rated, they are just lashing down eyes, I wouldn't tow off them unless desperate.

Use the hook.

and if you must use them use both of them at the same time (a strap between them with a tow rope attached to that in a Y shape) if one fails the attachment to the other will arrest its flight towards your or your offroading buddies noggin.
