One that bolts to the chassis in place of the front tie down hook.

Ah! Okay, got one of those but again, no its not for sale. Are they optional then? My truck came with one fitted...

But again, I ask, What is the advantage over a shackle?

Depending on price, I may take 2.

A shackle is fitted to the hook. The one you have (drivers side with a smaller hook at the back?) isn't rated.

So the 2 recovery points aren't rated????
2 big round holes I put my shackles through.... and yes, there is a hook set slightly further back on drivers side.
                Confused.

                pics of shackles in holes...

The big round holes are definatly not rated, they are just lashing down eyes, I wouldn't tow off them unless desperate.

                  Use the hook.

Nah, it looks cool! TBH as long as you know they have limits its ok, and try and only pull in a straight line.

The hook is better, and a rated aftermarket one is better still, but I've never broken a Toy one, but I think there was a thread on the Ozzie forum about some failed ones awhile ago.

Most of the aftermarket ones have a spring clip to stop the shackle or strop loop falling off, the Toy one dosn't.

Ckecked today and mine's deffo got a spring clip. So does that mean its aftermarket? seems strange for a truck that was "standard" when I bought it...

                              OK, cheers Andy.

Tony will have forgotten, so this'll prompt him to look tomorrow too...
