That's the best surf ever made, I reckon, the intercooled KZN185. A bit sad that Toyota doesn't seem to have put a diesel in the 4th Gen. I have been looking online but they all seem to have the 2.7 or 4.0 L petrol engines, from around 2003...

Just replaced starter contacts with the ebay kit easy job all done just over an hour.

Nice Motor! My favorite colour combination too! Its very strange to me as to why the 4runner is not sold in Europe, I guess because of the fact it may (Would!) effect Landcruiser sales. They are definately the best vehicles ive ever owned.

I have a 1998 Surf with the intercooled KZ1-TE and I just love the sound when it starts up, and when it accelerates.

This year I am also in possession of a Mitsi Triton 2.4 Diesel and I hate it, I'm in common-rail hell - absolutely gutless at low revs and I hear the same from friends with 3.2L Rangers. Just saying, that Toyota replaced it with the 1KD-FTV which is common-rail diesel so I don't know that it would have lived up to its predecessor.
