  • Salisbury plain evening navigation ramble

On Saturday 27th April there is an evening navigation ramble on Salisbury Plain organised by Steve Gunning . It is a non competitive run and intended as a way of helping you to learn the R.O.W. network while enjoying an evening of fun with like minded people. There are code boards to follow to ensure that you are following the corect route.

The idea is you plot the route on a map prior to attending then use the code boards to confirm that you have followed it correctly.

    Details……
    Date: Saturday 27th April 2013

Start and Finish: The Bustard pub (Grid ref 0920-4620)
    Start: 17:30 - 18:00
    Finish: 22:30 - 23:00
    Maps Required: Explorer 130 - 131

£10_ per vehicle donation to cover set up costs. See Steve when you arrive as he will also have a map with the route on it so you can see if you got it right. (normally wearing a real tree cammo suit and stood by a V8 defender).

All routes have proven vehicle rights. Some of the lanes are still incorrectly signed but the lanes have either been already upgraded to byway or going through the upgrading process.

Please keep groups small as not to upset and respect other users of the plain.
An emergency phone number is available and also cb channel 22.

You going? I like the sound of it, bit daunting thinking I have to plan my own route.
well, that was a bad idea!

I have a group already , it is not that bad as the code boards aslo point turns etc ..... its like a guided tour , As it is designed to teach you the route , plus there are about 50 trucks running the same route

So I get maps, plan route, then they will tell me if it's ok before I head off. But just incase I go wrong somewhere, what happens then?
well, that was a bad idea!

Make sure you set off early . then you can quiz teams following. believe me you can follow some one around and never learn, this is designed to teach.

BTW those co-ordinants have a SU prefix if plotting in mapping programs
