Timenator and me decided to tackle the TOR salisbury route today - well start it anyway, we headed out a little late and made a start on it (not quite got to the plains yet)
started off down some interesting byways, some muddy with deep ruts, others more dusty etc..
anyways, pics n a story to go with them
Only snag with following the TOR routes in a smurf, we have kms speedo.. oh well
first coupel of lanes were like this, reasonable sized ruts, through small clumps of woodlands and pass fields
passing cows, fields full of crows..
quick stop
end of one lane gave a great photo op
Next lane started really muddy but soon dried up (well froze anyway)
but got tighter and tighter - good job neither of us mind a few scratches..
a few more lanes later and we come down this lane
the ruts were very deep, diffs and undercarriage catching in a few places
rounded the next bend and was met by this stuck landy = both front and rear diffs had ground out..
Tim was in front so we got the rope out, but the rut and mud was not letting tim pull, so wethen stuck a rope between tim and me, we both then pulled but we didnt have enough grip in the ruts
so next plan was to get us out of the ruts, so we could pull the landy backwards..
this was harder than we thought..
eventually we were both free
as tim has the tow bar on the back and i dont tim offered to pull the landy out
out he comes
we then continued on the next stages of the route
more ruts, tracks and mud..
came across a section of tank training just as nightfall came
so we called it a day there and headed home
cant wait for our next trip up there..
