  • First time offroad

Hello everyone, I recently acquired a surf and I wanted to take it to Langdale Quest and have a play. But I thought since i've never had any experience of driving offroad i might be best to find someone to show me some stuff before I broke something.
So I gave these guys a call: http://www.offroadtrainingltd.co.uk/ and went to Lockwell Hill near Mansfield.
It was an excellent morning and i'm trying to remember all the things he's shown me, I can see why people would choose and auto over a manual now (I must not depress the clutch if I stall it on hill!!).
Hopefully i'll go back again when the ground is a bit wetter so I can hav some experience of driving in muddy or wet conditions, as today was pretty dry.
    Here are some piccies:

And just to check, surfs don't have a locking rear diff do they?
    thanks

no, being part time 4wd the centre diff is permanently locked exactly as a landrover would be with it's standard centre diff lock engaged.

Technically i guess it could have one, an electric locker was a factory option mind you i don't think anyone on here's ever seen a surf with one fitted. A limited slip rear diff was a somewhat more common option, and if the axle code on the vin plate ends in a 5 (probably G285) that's what it's got. Otherwise it's a normal open diff.
