something we were wondering at the weekend, are there any rules and regulations about where you can drive off road. we were following byways on common land but lost the track a few times and wondered if there were any laws which we could get done for if we strayed onto someones land etc?

All you'd be is tresspassing, and it would be easy to prove you'd got lost.

The big trouble is most of the 'country' people are so anti-vechiles on their precious countryside that its just more ammo for the lanes closers, if your 'doing 90mph' over someones crops (believe me, thats how it will be presented, people trying get lanes closed have pulled internet pics of trucks going nuts at offroad centers and told the council it on the local lane).

Get your self some good maps, all the byways are marked on them, then join GLASS to help support keeping the greenlanes open for everyones enjoyment, not just the people who don't wanna get muddy feet when walking the dog.

the other thing to do is check with the local council and they shoud have a map with all the roads you can drive on, so you can copy them on to your map .

one bad apple spoils the barrel. i used to ride motox on fields with permission from the landowner, next thing you know loads of people find out & totaly trash the place. some people have no respect. it only takes one to spoil it for everybody else.
