Leigh - Slag Lane - Anyone go there?

Does anyone go to Slag Lane area in Leigh?

Ive found what I think is the right place for a bit of off roading, but being a newbie to offroad i dont wanna go there and get stuck!

Hi if the same place l am thinking it is be careful the police hang about there some days, its private land and you can be fined £30 and told if you are caught again they will take your truck and crush it. Apart from that it is not a bad place been twice and had a good time and l did not get caught.

If you want some good truble free off roading, then we ofton head off up to Rooley Moor.
My son-in-law has a Surf, and I use a Navara

Great day out, I know most of the off-road tracks up there.
You can drive for hours.

Well perhaps the sight of 10 Surf's might have alerted then to getting up to "no - good"

Perhaps if 2 ~ 3 of you went up one way, and 2 ~ 3 of you went up the other way, and same for the others another way, you could have all met up at the old crusher for example.
There are 4 ways up there that I know of.
Which way did you try to get up there from?

the group split up into two and travelled from both ends of rooley moor road. It was when we were already in the quarry that the police turned up and turfed us out. There is also a guy further down near the ash-pits that comes with a video camera

Were the cop's O.K. ?
When me and the son in law went up, he stopped us at the start of RM Rd, and then let us on our way.

I suppose on another day, you would have been O.K.

I have been up and arround the old crusher, Lee quarries, I think it is, for perhaps 14 years now I come to think of it.

Sure, some times it was on "crossers" and only past 6 years or so in 4x4.

Once had a "fell runner" suddenly pull a camera out of his ruck sack while he was running, and snap off a few pics.

Albeit, this was just before the sod jumped over a style !!

After all, how fast can 1 fell runner run !
