You should try driving to some of the out lying villages ie Cliffe, Higham, Hoo, Cooling etc.( only about 12 miles from you)
There are quite a few tracks and lanes suitable for mild to moderate off roading.Rob
Still working for the man!

I normally go up to bredhurst woods just on the other side of hempstead but ramblers and locals have associated fellow 4x4ers with fly tippers and have caused all amounts of problems. going to get an OS map tomorrow see how i get on.Originally posted by plumb bobYou should try driving to some of the out lying villages ie Cliffe, Higham, Hoo, Cooling etc.( only about 12 miles from you)

there is basically, no such thing. The best you can do is OS maps and find byways open to all traffic (BOATS) on them, marked as lines made up of green crosses on 1:25000 explorer maps, or red crosses on the 1:50000 scale landranger maps. Then find your local council Rights of Way office phone number and ring them to check the lanes are still open and don't have Traffic Restriction Orders in place on them.Originally posted by Ed209 View PostI would just like to know how to get a green lane map for kent & east Sussex. help please.
There is also a map on the KCC website at http://extranet7.kent.gov.uk/explorekentgis/map.aspx however, it's fiddly to use and not kept up to date, there are lanes marked on there that have been closed for 12 years+, and lanes not marked on there that are open, so you stilll need to ring the RoW office to check what you find on there anyway. It's the byways you are looking for on there which should be highlighted brown, but as i said it's not very up to date.
The number for the high halden RoW office which i use and they seem to cover most of kent is 01233 820797.
If you're struggling to find lanes still let me know and i may be able to give a few more pointers.=========
