WEDSDAY 28 CEIRIOG TRAIL GREEN LANE RUN Wales. This will take in as many tracks as we can fit it in a day including parts of the famous Wayfarer track, and other lesser known tracks, all in a compact area. All are extremely scenic Drovers roads, green lanes and river crossings.
things have been chnged for some reason. at least you are nearer to corwen than the rest of us..
I live in the Ceiriog valley itself, and therefore can give you a couple of pointers for driving round here as I can be on multiple lanes minutes from my doorstep!
- There are alot of available lanes marked on the maps - but be careful, some are currently under heavy discussion as it seems our friends at OS marked some paths down wrongly as tracks. If it says you have no access, you probably don't.
- Please keep to the tracks - there's alot of bad feeling about 4x4's chewing up the countryside round here, and from what I've seen the criticism is justified. Some of it is admitedly trials bikes, but quite a lot is obviously 4x4's who think "ooo.. that bit looks fun over there" and drive off the lanes (There's a particularly lovely example of this at the top of the wayfarer, it'll make you sick to see it).
- Keep an eye on group size - I'm sorry to say but that group in the pictures is way too many to green lane in a single line - check the GLASS link at the top of this forum by Koi if you disagree.
- Watch out for shoots, some areas are closed this time of year.
This valley is one of the most scenic places I've ever had the good fortune to live in, and I want it to stay that way and be able to drive around it like I can now - but the minority amongst off roaders are getting close to spoiling that for the rest of us. There's an awful lot of negativity from some of the locals, and I have to live with them!
Anyway, I'm sure you lot are responsible, so have fun in the valley - you will love it! You may even see me out and about that day - I'll be the one not paying someone to guide me round my neighbourhood!
Oh and if anyone's stuck for accomodation you can't beat £15 B&B at The Royal Oak in Glyn Ceiriog - you may even find me propping up the bar (it's in danger of toppling over.... honest guv!)

i quite agree with you, that bit on the wayfarer is a complete mess last year when i saw it last.
simply 4x4 keep to quite a strickt rule about over use, that why i use them
living in n.wales there are a lot of off road lanes but a lot of them are roman roads and the like whitch should be kept away from.
john
john can you let me know about these bars cheers matt
