Cancelled Event
*** Cancelled Due to Conditions ***
*** Cancelled Due to Conditions ***
After going to look at the route today the following was found:
1. After talking to a farmer and all the recent rains with much more to come the route is going to be damaged too much by vehicular access
2. The start of the route is slippy, very narrow with copious amounts of scratching of the vehicle
3 Many places are on a steep camber and so easy to slide off the track. We had to extracate ourselves from a ditch as we just slid into them
3. Part of the route is very deep rutted [farmers tractor] through the farmers field. You slide along on the diffs along the middle of the path. For those who went on the LLangollen trip the rutts are deeper than those warned about to get onto that site.
Both Peter and I had to reverse for 100-150yds just to get out of the rutts before even reaching the deepest part.
4. Some of the gravelled areas you also bottom out if not careful, trying to avoid the run-off from the hills
The total route I believe is around 60km. Today we just managed 7.5km in two and half hours before cancelling the rest.
I have included some pictures of those routes where we motored along quite easily..apart from the rutts to give you a flavour [Sorry about the burred images..cant help when trying to drive also]Last edited by Gizmo; 6 November 2005, 17:37.Gaz

Bad News
I must agree with what Garry said about our recy to day, even with a 2-inch lift we were bottoming out on most of the ruts
To give you one example I managed to slide of the track and even using diff lock it took us half an hour to get my surf back on to the track.
The area has had so much rain water was running down all of the racks and with more rain forecast for the area this week we would probably end up causing quite a bit of damage to the tracks, and this is some thing we do not want to do
We will definitely be doing these green lanes but its looking like it will now be next year when the ground has dried out
