It is certainly the milder form of off-road. Though some can be pretty deep rutted!

For info on Green Laning check out the Green Laning Association (GLASS) at http://www.glass-uk.org/

Ordnance Survey Expolorer series of maps details all of the Byways that you can drive down. Go to http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/

to find your area and then you can either order them from OS or go to Amazon, etc.

If life's an uphill struggle then downhill from now on can't be that bad?!

Martin, we're not that far from you - why not come along with us when Rich and Matt sort out the Ridgeway route? It's better than going on your own - sommeone to give you a tow if you get stuck....

Always fancied doing the Ridge Way. Room for one more?

Just let me know if you have too many vehicles already. Better not to upset the walkers and such like.

Most weekends are good for me

Set a date and you never know it could be your misfortune to have me along too.

That would be cool. I'll try and map out the bits that arent gated this weekend.

I like the sound of this too! But as Andy said, green laning groups should be kept fairly small. Maybe we could split into 2 groups and drive different sections with a meet up for lunch in a pub somewhere?

Good idea Rob. I wonder if the Streatley that was mentioned is the Berkshire one. I only know of two Streatleys, the one I was born and raised in, pronounced Stretley ( or Stratley if you are real Bedfordshire ) and the Berks one ( pronounced Streetley ). Anyway I know where that is.
I once considered riding the Ridgeway on horseback ..............saddlebag ..................tent .........coffee ............beans.
                                I won't digress anymore
