SWMBO has decided that she, erm I mean we, will be going to Avalanche this year!

We went to the Jap & Jeep Jam last year - same site at Sibbertoft and its a cracking little off road course. Great for beginners (it was my first time off roading and the first time the wife had ever driven anything with more than 2 wheels!) and some of the guys with more modified vehicles seemed to have a whale of a time in it too.

If you get stuck in the water - big deal! Someone will drag you out.

My little 'un will be just under 3. Last year we brought along a mate of the wife & her daughter (about the same age as Harlan) and the kids loved just having the freedom to wander around the campsite and explore.

If it's your first time - don't worry. You'll have a cracking time!

EDIT: Oh yeah - we'll be there from Friday to Monday.

Good - I haven't spent all that time and money on lifting my truck fitting big mud tyres and a snorkel for nothing!

I will definatly avoid the water until i've seen someone else go through it, and i'll bring some wellies just in case.
I wonder if the Surf is named after it's love of water?
You would think so the way Jotto and Puddlesurfer used theirs last year

Don't be too worried, as Puddles found out test the water first that way you will not have to endure Dixie sulking as he gets wet.

There were a few guys that joined us late last year and they had a standard Surf and he went around a few times, most of us have towing gear to pull you out. .

Come down and enjoy its mostly the social side anyway that most of us go for, plus the chance to legally get your truck very dirty.
If you come down and find you do want to go round the track I am sure someone will go with you and show you the places not to go...

Just wait and look around before going head on into a big PUDDLE.

See what i did there PuddleSurfer

My surf is totally standard, no lift, no winch and still on 30" tyres. My only offroad experience is parking my work van on pavements
I hope the beginner bits are easy, i dont fancy bashing my truck up.
My truck was totally standard and I had no problem with the majority of the course - Just avoid driving through water unless you have checked the depth!

Don't worry, my truck was standard & coped just fine.

I am always impressed at what these trucks can handle. For the majority of us, our lack of skill, ability and the fear factor kick in well before the truck gets to its limit!
I'm gonna take it easy, but I know by the end of the weekend i'll be getting air off the hills and scooping mud out the footwells!
I was really impressed with what mine could get through & with crappy road tyres on.
