  • brakes + clutch on suzuki

I finely had the time to take of the wheels on the suzk and have a look at the brakes. When I took the front wheels off I found there were no brake pads, all four of them were missing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the drums at the back are knackered and full of clay Know wonder I had a problem slowing down lol

I all so have no clutch tried adjusting it a bit and have made it worse any one have any idlers on clutch repair. it was ok last time I was at the pit ????? think I heard some talking about washing out with a hose pipe but will this make it rust up??

    Welcome to Suzi ownership .
4 sizes of brake pads so wrong ones might have been fitted and fell out ?
Rear drums are the fault of most off roaders even Surfs !
Rear disc kits available using front discs on rear and Rover 220 calipers or the front ones again off the Suzi .
Hope this helps . A good supplier is Rhino Ray ,but is a costly bit of kit . Me I will make ours one day .
Clutch , run engine with 2000 - 3000rpm and put a jet wash in the timing hole (the one you taped up) . This will fill the bell housing but wash out the c**p . Clutch may seem to drag for a bit but take for a drive until it heats up say 5 miles .

I forgot to mention . If you want the handbrake to work on a rear disc conversion , you will need rear calipers with handbrake fittings . A common conversion is to use a 410 transfer box as has the handbrake on the back of the transfer box like a Landy . If you use the 410 t/box you can use the front calipers off a 413 on the rear brakes as h/brake already sorted . Also better ratios with 410 t/box .

              Sorry for late reply

No link from here . The Surf boys just about tolerate us on here (joke) .
Many suppliers out there for rear disc job . Langdale run a fleet of Suzis on site for hire . All fitted with 410 t/box and front disc/caliper set up on rear . I talked to one of the mechs there to pry some more info . The site owner has his own caliper mounts cast and will sell to you for £160 +/- vat not sure .
In time I will think about fabricating some for our one with the help and skill of Jotto .
