  • I've got a plan...........

I've decided we have toooooo many motors, so I'm up for a little mix and match.

I'm currently in the middle of sorting out Emmas moggy minor. Once this is completed I will have a spare moggy shell.
For a little variety I was thinking of mixing it with the Suzy.... to produce something like the attached picture.........

Anyone got any suggestions / do's & dont's on how to start something as daft as this ????

Some one call? Its late and I'm knackered from football, so this may be tricky to read..........

If it was me, I'd do something like this.....

strip the Zuki down to the chassis,

Measure the wheel bases, and if the don't line up properly, easiest to cut and alter the chassi, rather than alter the body. if the zuki has a longer wheel base than the mog, consider leaving things be, and just extend the wheel arch opening out either end, from the top of the wheel arch, just cut straight out towards the ends of the car, this will help with wheel clearance in the front bulkhead.

the mog is on a chassis right? options....
1/ remove the body from the chassis, then make new body mounts from the mog to the zuki chassis, incorperating any body lift you think you'll need.

2/ Remove all the drive train from the mog, lay the mog chassis over the zuki chassis, line things up and literally weld the two chassis together, this will save to much fabricating and give automatic body lift. but will be heavier when finished.

3/ remove the mog running gear, and fix all the zuki engine, axles and springs in to the mog, bigger job, but neater and more professional looking if you intend to MOT it.

finding a Autobox will save you alot of hassles, clutch routing, gear lever etc, could all be a pain other wise.

think about the steering column routing when planning things, and where the back of the engine comes, in relation to the bulkhead of the moggy and getting the gear levers within reach of the front seats without fouling the handbarke lever (could be moved around though), wireing and brake pipes can all be made to suit later.

The main thing is to get the body positioned over the chassis, with the right size tyres on, and adjust it to get things lined nice, and see how much fender trimming you'll need to do. Get some scaffold planks on big stands over the chassis, then put the body on the boards and you can shunt it backwards and forwards over the chassis easily till you like where it sits.

          Go for it!

Looks like option 2 for me... chassis to chassis..... easy option.

I'm thinking of cutting the front mog floorpan out and re making a flat plate one (with relevant holes etc when the zook is in place.... this means I can shuffle the driving position around to fit where the steering & pedals end up ! D'you reckon this will this work ?

It's not going to happen until the summer - warmer weather, light nights and all those moggy spares harvested for Emmas car !

yeah, No2 would be easier, making a floor solves a lot of problem, pedals should'nt be to much of a problem, cables and hoses can be moved, a clear straight run from the steering wheel to the zuki steering box is the important bit.
