  • 410 clutch

Not posted down here for a while so here we go .
Removed the gearbox from the silver 410 today as the clutch had started to slip badly when last used .
It looked quite a simple job except for the 1/2 ton of Pit clay/mud/chalk under the vehicle and around all the bolts .
With the 'box out the clutch was dropped out and was found to be worn out . Trouble is it has worn out on the flywheel side and damaged the face of the flywheel . It is not worth skimming it as not used on the road .

Wot Phil , you never seen a pile of Pit mud before ?

If you want a write up I will do one , but it will be different for a 413 as a larger gearbox .

i thought i had trouble with the clutch on my 413 on sunday as i was having trouble getting it into gear after off roading but after i gave the suki ajet wash on monday and gave the engine a blast too i think it was a load of muck got into the hole in the bellhousing but it seems ok at the mo so i'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the clutch is ok as it's not slipping at the mo

Yeah , put a hose in the bellhousing hole and run the engine at 2500rpm for a minute or 2 . It throws the mud out of the clutch . We did it on ours and Jasons and it cleared the clutch prob until now .
Many of the other Suzi runners on other sites reseal the bellhousing to engine with silicone sealer when putting a new clutch in and also seal the bellhousing 'timing' hole to prevent water ingress when wading . I will try this when I put the new clutch in tommorrow .

Jotto got it local to him . Price was £47 , I think , but that is for a early 410 not the later 5 speed 410 or 413 which I know are alot more . Most Zook specialists want £60+vat+p&p
Jon may confirm price if you want .

You need to know if yours is Jap or Spanish built as they are different . Chassis number will tell , how , I can not remember but there is a site which will tell you the country built in by the chassis number .
If you have the reg I can do a search for you as I have access to DVLA (hush hush).

Your Zook was first registered 3/1/1989 . 6 previous owners and 4 private/cherished plate transfers . Not declared scrap or SORN . Recommend you get that last bit sorted mate.
