They are the best shape newer LC, they look like a grown up Surf.

The front diff is great for putting in Toy Pickup front axles, they are reverse cut and high pinion, much stronger as the nomal pickup diff is just a rear diff running backwards, on its weaker 'coast' side of the gears. plus the high pinion gives better ground clearance and better prop angle on lifted trucks.

Plus the locker, so watch out, Koi or i might be paying a midnight visit
You will have to fight me to the death for it. I much prefer the shape to the 100 or 120 series but then I would say that as I couldn't afford a 100 series anyway. Plus the new ones are too damn complicated and don't have solid axles any more on the front.

When I said dirty - i mean road dirt, it has road tyres on it so it's unlikely to be seeing any mud.

    Cheers

      L/c

Hi Andy it certainly looks nice hope you enjoy yours as much as l have enjoyed mine over the last 8years or so, l keep saying l am going to sell it but nothing comes close to replacing it so l will proberly have it for another 8 years or so. But l must say l have never got more than about 24mpg, but l have always had big engined cars that do less than 20mpg so the L/C is quite good compered to them. HAPPY MOTORING. l was going to say if you need any advice give me a shout, but they dont go wrong all l have bought for it in the time l have had it is 2 sets of batteries they seem to last 3to4 years 2 sets of front pads, 1set of rear pads,1 set of front discs afull exhaust 10 months ago 2 timing belts had one done when l 1st bought it and general seviceing.

Only 3 things I have noticed wrong with it:

        1. A/C Radiator is a bit bent (think the motor had a small front end at some point - noticed it when replacing the passenger side headlamp washer - luckily no leaks at the moment.

        2. Either Transfer Box or front diff is noisy - what is yours like, mine sounds like a tube train when accelerating but is quiet when coasting.

        3. Leak from the power steering pump - mine has the direct driven one fitted behind the vacuum pump (the guy who sold it to me thought it was a fuel lift pump). Looks like it is just a banjo bolt where the copper washers are knackered.

Apart from that it all seems really good for 140K miles. I think the fuel mileage will improve when I ease off on the loud pedal, just really enjoying all that power. Overall on the last tank of fuel I got 20.2 MPG average of which 90% was around town so I'm not complaining. I have hit between 26 and 28 on a decent motorway run at around 75 mph. It looks like the economy really goes down the drian at above 80mph but then I wasn't expecting anything different.

        Cheers M8

I wish - or rather I don't wish - If there was 200L in the tank I think I would be doing about 1 MPG .

It's just so difficult not to used all the power all of the time and drive it like a sports car. It handles not much different to the Surf considering it's quite a bit heavier and has a solid front axle - amazing how Toyota could get the handling so right when they couldn't get it right on the old Disco which had very similar running gear.

I wonder if you can get away with the EGR mod on the 1HD-T, might just give that a go.

            Cheers

Only know that too well - i thought it was depressing filling the Surf when I borrowed the LC though it takes half as much again!

Funny things Disco's handle like a wet fish!

I bet you have been burning off the local chavs
