  • Guess I'll have to join you lot down here

Got the LC, absolute jem and I love it.

Here are a couple of pictures, it's a bit dirty but then it is a Truck.

A few bits of Info about it.

4.2 TD Auto, 1HD-T engine. Auto gearbox.
    140K Miles
Front and rear diff locks (Toyota E Lockers)
    Leather Heated Electric Seats
General XP2000 tyres - they will have to go.

Drives really well however the diffs are a little noisy, need some wynns in them I think.

Looks very tasty Andy , have to say, at the moment that't about the only vehicle that could tempt me from my Surf, if only I had the shillings....

Hope it gives you plenty of good service and happy motoring.

Yep when the Generals have worn down enough and I've got a job and not living on the redundancy. Probably ATs though not MTs, it's a heavy beast and I don't want to be changing them every other week.

Morr, it's a damn fine motor, The Surf smile gets even bigger in an LC (maybe I should make a bumper sticker with something like that on). I see you are selling yours, you tempted now or what. Mind you an LC is a big beast for some of those Irish roads. And thanks by the way, I'm hoping that it will give long and untroubled service. After the past couple of months with the Surf (not that I'll blame the Surf for it - shouldn't have driven it with noisy tappets and should have got the head on right the first time) I need some time out from working on cars, especially as I need to get on and find a job.

        Cheers

the diff locks are great! with so much power you never run out... EVER. Only thing against you I would say is ground clearance but with the right tyres you will do well to get it stuck. It is heavy mind.
I never want to drive my Dads one again cos it reminds me how much torque the engine does have compared to my 2.4!
            How does feel Andy owning a 2.4 and a 4.2 ?

Ive even added an offroading pic for you how good it that We expect to see it out soon!

I'd love to keep both to be honest, the 2.4 for taking off road, and the 4.2 for burning up the Traffic lights and towing and carrying stuff and comfort and long journeys etc etc.

Haven't got the space however so the Surf will be going.

The LC is really too big for taking off road except for extremely wide lanes - or trekking across the Sahara, but then again maybe - be good for clearing the undergrowth, just pile straight through it.

It would be interesting to see when you might need them, the suspension travel on these things is pretty awesome but then thats solid axles and coil springs for you, decent set of tyres I think you would probably need them in snow and really nasty mud but not much else. Don't think that the ground clearance is any worse than a standard size Surf and the breakover is probably the same - son't think the LC is actually any longer, just wider and taller.

yeah just a bit taller and loads wider.. the lanes we did in Hatfield recently were way to narrow for an LC. For such a big car they are quite squat

                  Enjoy

Great truck Andy, love it. Those leather seats, if only...........The thing that scares me about the LC's is the fuel consuption. I've heard 16 mpg, are they that thirsty?

Actually more economical than my Surf, averaging about 26 at the moment, probably 20 around town. Still need to run redex through a few times to clean out the injectors and maybe have a look at doing the EGR mod cos I think the EGR is stuck open - bit lumpy on idle - could be dirty injectors or EGR.

Manual LCs (4.2TDs) will do best part of 30 mpg average, the Auto is a bit less. It's the Petrol one that is really juicy, 16 MPG average is not unheard of.

                        Cheers

Yeah you are right (well of ourse you are as you would know if you are selling your truck or not). Just had a bit of brain fade there for a minute.

                          Cheers

Thats not dirty! Wheres the mud?

They are the best shape newer LC, they look like a grown up Surf.

The front diff is great for putting in Toy Pickup front axles, they are reverse cut and high pinion, much stronger as the nomal pickup diff is just a rear diff running backwards, on its weaker 'coast' side of the gears. plus the high pinion gives better ground clearance and better prop angle on lifted trucks.

Plus the locker, so watch out, Koi or i might be paying a midnight visit
