I run mine on a mixture, I put 15 litre of Veg oil in, then top up with Global Diesel (5% bio mix from Tesco) - you cannot get any simpler !!!

Newest convert
Just became the latest convert to the benefits (mostly financial) of veg power!
I've started by mixing 25% oil to the tank with no loss in power, no noticable difference in engine noise and only a slight change in exhaust odour - it doesn't smell like a chippy but I get the odd whiff of hot veg oil occasionally!
Thanks to all who posted info and sensible advice on the subject (particularly Morr), early days for me yet, but I think i'll be well happy with the change - once i've got over the embarassment of buying bulk oil from my local supermarkets.

What sort of oil's the best to go for??
Does it work just as well??
Sounds a bit too easy to me!!!
Dave
yep, that simple, i use about 20-25% veg oil this time of year but about 40% in the summer, normal veg oil, 46p a litre at aldi, no probs, runs great

rapseed oil normally the best to go for,if it says veg oil and it`s cheap that`s normally rapeseed.
you can run a 2 tank system, start on diesel and switch to straight veg,but you need to warm veg oil up as it`s much thicker than diesel.
for 1 tank, mix at least some diesel with my veg oil out side the tank just to start the mix.
if it`s really cold you may notice a slight lumpyness on start up(or it may have just been my 205d)but that soon clears.

Cheaper veg oil!!! check it out
Just been shopping and found a new veg oil product. I forget who makes it (maybe CRISP'N'DRY) .
It's a spray oil that allows you to use 90 per cent less oil than ordinary cooking oil.
So if my maths is correct:
1 x 500ml bottle is equivalent to 50 litres of normal veg oil.
1 bottle cost £1.99 - where as the equivalent amount veg oil cost £55.00 +
The only problem is adding it to the fuel tank. two quick squirts into the tank is all it takes to achieve the correct mix - but in windy conditions - it can blow all down the side of the car.
Conducting trial - will report back!!Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!

found that during application, the amount of spray oil recommened on the bottle - equated to 4.5ml, which did not register on my fuel gauge.
Now thinking back to my college days in chemistry we find that combustion is normally based on the stoiciometric ratio of 14 parts excess air to 1 part fuel by volume.
So the spray oil volume being 4.5ml requires a "bulking agent" to increase it's volume.
I've found the best agent for this purpose is ordinay deisel fuel sold at most garage forcourts for a reasonable price.
by mixing spray oil with deisel at a ratio of 1:2222.2 (or 2 squirts spray oil to 10 litres deisel) gives us a healthy reading on the fuel gauge.
Using this mix I've acheived a modest 23mpg.
the cost of deisel is offset against the initial saving on the spray oil.
A good all round result. the oil companies get their share as do HM C&E, and we eco warriors and cheapskates get to use our beloved veg oil.
Happy motoring.Everyone thinks I'm paranoid!!
