Is it right that it matters that the gear selector must be the type that runs straight rather than the one that goes kinda dog leggy thingy shape...or does it not matter?

I fancy a decent one to smoke around in for a while, always liked the old busses so may have a little treat for Christmas.

As long as the engine and box are sorted thats the main thing. Mine had a dent in the rear 3/4 which pulled out but other than that everything else is working and drives like new.
Hopefully I can make some money off of the remainder when Ive broken it up. The way Im looking at it is 550 minus the cost of scrap weight and parts sold makes it a pretty frugal purchase.
But for now its got MOT until August so will keep using it until the project is ready to have it fitted.
I like it so much I might buy another one once I break this

Like you I am not really looking at ripping this one up, I bought because I fancied a bit of luxury for the price of a Fiesta. If somewhere along the road I want to do the swop then so be it, either this one if it's suitable or another one..but in the meantime she's LOVELY to drive...just cannot hear anything, good for an old motor. A bit of TLC and she'll look the nuts.
