  • Minimum down travel on suspension?

Hello, I've lifted my 2.4 LN130 by 4" so far, 2" body and 2" suspension; my problem is this, I haven't got the money to change the shocks but I did have the skill and spare materials to manufacture some coil spacers and ball joint spacers.

From what I've worked out with a tape measure and some basic maths is that from under my rear arch to the ground I can acheive 38.25" at maximum shock extension (at the rear, stock shocks, 31x10.5" tyres, no body or suspension lift) which from standard height allows me an extension from settled height of 5.25".

After adding a 2" suspension lift but not changing the shocks that leaves me with 3.25" downward travel from settled height.

If I was to add a further 2" front and back without changing my shocks I will get 1.25" of down travel.

Is that or is that not enough until I can get the money together to change the shocks? A bonus is that the wheels, being held up by the shocks, will not travel futher than stock brake lines will allow but I am thinking that it just isn't a good idea.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Ray.

I think if you have the skill and materials to build some spacers you should sell some to the guys on here who want some to pay for your shocks then you'd be happy and so would they

I tried to help by supplying things in the past and although I've helped a lot of people with bits and pieces, knowledge and advice; the manufacture and supply of parts, bearings etc. seemed like it was going to tread on a few people's toes so I left it.

I spoke to Koi about placing an advert for the company I work for on the website (at the top where the others are) which would enable me to sell etc without issue (and support the site) but my company were not into paying out as they saw it as 'just my interest' rather than a serious move to create more business. I am trying to find out as much info as I can on bearings, seals, consumables, manufacture of parts etc. so I can advise others but at the moment that's as far as I can go.

This lot is just for me and if I want to sell then it'll be on eBay or Amazon but I need to test this setup first.

          Thanks,

          Ray.

I've just changed my rear shocks. The old ones were "more or less" topped out with 2" RT springs, 2" body lift and 2" coil spacers...
only difference now is I get a nice soft bounce over speed bumps rather than a hard bump - stuff in boot takes flight!
remember shocks are okay topping out, but not bottoming out...

Did you get just +2" shocks?
Have you found the need to change your brake lines and if so which ones did you get?
