  • Courtesy lights in sidesteps.

I've gone against tradition and re-fitted the sidesteps to the 3rd gen, but I've added some white LED striplights that come on when the doors are opened.
The downside is that it looks more like an SUV now.

Yes, I know they're slightly different colours, my fault for not checking before bonding them in place.

You obviously don't drive on the sorts of tracks that I do, or the light would be very temporary.

        I think it's a cool lil tweak!

If you're going to have them then you may as well make them a bit smart!

I didn't really do a write up as I thought no-one would be interested, plus it's the part of a Surf that 99% of owners don't clean!

Flexible, gel covered 12v white LED strip...

Drill a load of suitable sized holes for a tight fit......

Seal with black (my preference) silicone...........

My steps are ABS plastic so drilling it was easy.

Come one everyone. He's not hurting anyone.

I actually think its a nice idea. Should be pretty unbustable where they are, and would be a nice touch when ferrying old or blind people about

                          i like this!

and the decent job you did of fitting, not many people would've gone to the trouble of drilling all them holes.
                          well done mate
