  • CB aerial fitting, best place?

Going to dig out my CB and just wondering where the best place to fit the aerial is on a surf which will work but not damadge the surf. Not keen on putting holes through the body work.

    Got any pics?

    Cheers,

    In place of the aerial?
    Roof rack?
    Bumper or nudge bar?

That's all I can think of,

    Ray.
I've got a plan and it's as hot as my pants!

cheers though as much, did think about the spare wheel frame but think it may have too much interference form the body of the car.

mine is on the spare wheel at the rear and it gets a good signal. for the best result the middle of the roof but then your in to a mag mount or something similar. i also think it looks best on the rear.

cheap and cheerfull if your only going to be using it green laning/ pay and play! i have a midland 98 i think!

You can get side mounts that can be bolted in between the tailgate and body work if you still want it at the rear.

Mine was on the spare wheel frame originally, but then I fitted a roof mounted one (via a hole - there's nowt scary about it) to take advantage of the big flat groundplane, and plugged the scanner into the rear one.

Mine's a mag mount just behind the sunroof,
works great, but it can't filter out all the bucket
mouths on there, (19) I don't use it when the wifes
                    in car, shame really.

                    Gman.
If it aint broke, keep goin' till it is.

CB (not the truck fitted variety!) these days seems to be the last stronghold of the genetically defective sub-humans who shouldn't be allowed out without a tag.

Friday / saturday nights after the pubs close, if I have a scanner listening to 27MHz, I sometimes wonder if what I hear is coming from the same species as me!

I think I'd be inclined to use PMR446 next time I get a truck. You can buy half a dozen decent ones second hand for £100 these days! Thats good value to a group buy!

mines on the wheel carrier same as Tony but on the bottom rail as opposed to the top one - looks better I think. My ariel is a thunderpole without a spring.

Reception is OK but hardest thing was getting enough antenna cable to run all the way to the centre console.
