Mine is on hold again as I make a cage for someone else. I made the sliders for this one from 48mm tube and I like them against the 32mm cage much more than mine
So the sliders on mine will be removed and made to fit tight under the mouldings and fitted with plates to make them bolt on.
They would look excellent on a Jimny that had no cage and would save your mouldings when off road if you want them before I eblag then give me a shout.
I will start mine again from scratch once Pie's is finished.
I did get all the B pillar and A pillar bars bent up for both Pie's and mine today, hope to have Pie's ready for Sat evening.
Will post pics once finished.
Finished Gregor's cage today, it will come back for cranked roof bars at a later date. Maybe front and rear cage if he goes the route of steel bumpers.
looking good mate, aint it a bitch getting all the bend centres right.i cheat and use a length of 3/8 bundy bent to the shape i want then just copy it over to the tube im using.so much easier to do.and 99% of the time ive only got to bend it once has saved me loads on tube stock and time.also far be it for me to say anything but aint that tube your using a little bit on the erm......small side diammeter wise.? or it looks it from the pics.

Mark, 40mm tube looks a little fat on such a small truck in the flesh mate. The sliders on that one are 48mm 3.2mm wall.
Certainly is a bitch at times mate, that lower windscreen bar has 5 bends in it to clear the wiper sweep and get the hood opening. {But hey it's easy is it not? you just bend it till it fits lol}
The bundy is a good idea thanks, I will need to grab some.
The tube is {32mm} actual 33.7mm OD with a 3.2mm wall.
It's standard issue use in the Stock Rods and Formula Stock for the internal cages they run.
Would be lost on a Surf mate but is ideal for the toy trucks
Went out for a play at Lamancha on Sunday and blew the head gasket
However, this evening I bought an engine from a 40k mileage breaker for the grand total of £50 including alternator. Not really Surf prices is it
Plus the lump coming out only needs a gasket by the looks of things, so a skim, valve grinding and a bit of porting and I should have a very responsive wee spare engine tucked away
May as well go buy a clutch and change it while I am at it.
Thats an impressive picture!
I'm surprised your wee Jimny made it over that, looks like a severe decline, looks like the front bumper might catch, and you'de have to be pulled out by another Jimny (a red one) with a winch.
Decided to beef up the rear bumper while I was at it.
This should give a more substantial base for the rear half of the cage.
I recycled one of the old sliders along with some scrap 2" tube and some 4mm flat bar.
My young lad ran his first welds tonight and did really well, looks like I might have a helper on tap
Thanks George will get it repainted an picture once on.
Cage well under way now. Nice solid base with the new sliders and the awkward B hoop tacked in place.
Will all be bolt on when finished so the whole cage can be removed.
Hope to get A pillars on tomorrow night and top and bottom windscreen bars if it stays dry.
