Arron, there's fabrication and there's bodging. That is the latter. That 'pipework' is a disaster waiting to happen. Get some silicone hoses bought before you end up with something knackering up.

Edit: This isn't meant as a putdown or anything, merely a preventative precautionary note.

Blimey Arron its a bit... tapey.

Nice one for doing the mod, but as Matt says get some silicone hose, its not worth saving the money and having something go majorly wrong or the 'cooler not having the effect that you've taken the time to install it for.

Plus that tape will get very soft and oily in no time, start to peel and get sucked into the engine.

No excuses, I posted a link to a cheap silicone hose parts supplier a while back. Use the search button again.

I'm sorry for laughing, but that's a disaster! I'm very much in the "If you can't do it right, don't do it at all" camp. I'd wait a few months and save up for the hoses (£100 max) to do the job properly.

The fact that it's now smoking should tell you it's not right?

This HAS to be a troll???

                      If so, splendid job!

If not - oh my god mate, strip it all off before it :-

                      a) Catches fire - the turbo gets very hot. Hotter than water waste pipe can handle.
                      b) Molten plastic / tape ends up wrecking your engine (its smoking is it not?)
Cutting steps in the roof of the world

Unless Arron has used waste pipe from suppiers to the indian restaurant sector. I believe they are specced for higher temperatures.

As far as I know, there are no preformed ones available for the Surf. You'll need a mixture of straight pieces and elbows to make them up.

In his first post he said he fitted the intercooler after seeing it on here.
The way he has mounted it looks exactly the same as The Lovely Boyo's, so he should have notice the part about silicone hoses too, don't you think?

Aaron, you need to measure the outlet on the turbo, the in and outlets on the 'cooler and the inlet on the throttle body. Write down the sizes, in millimeters, and search Ebay again.
