Finished my s/s 3" exhaust, firstly a big thanks to Dave "Webbo" Webster who supply'd me with bits and got the pipe, bends and had the flanges made up, sent me s/s rods, discs, advice etc, would'nt have even attempted this without ya mate
Right! well as my welding skills aint exactly great and the mig welder i bought on ebay is cr@p i had to use the arc welder and "dab" the weld, this worked out better than i expected and it joined the metal very well, only prob is it dose'nt look too good so i made/cut bands off the 3" pipe to make internal and external sleeves to cover the duff looking weld on the outside and add a bit of strenght on the inside, also made the gaskets to go between the flanges out of a small sheet of lead/fibre gasket i had,
Done it in stages and the first being from the turbo connection down alongside the engine, this was probably the worst bit as it's bl00dy tight in there, had to junk the original pipe bracket and made one from flat bar and 3" clamp as i've used throughout also i had to "push" the trans fluid pipes in a bit to clear the exhaust, fitting this section was a real "SOD" got to two nuts through the wheel arch but the other needed four socket extensions and uj, had to bang the socket on and in fact it's still on there
Stage 1 (the front bit)
