• Two bolts are too long, so need some about 1 1/2" shorter to finish bolting up and the interior trim (centre bolts by pillar).
• When I read 'fan shroud' I had in mind that little fan on the outside of the radiator, not the big plastic thing on the inside. D'oh. So that was what popped when jacking it up! It got too late, too dark and too knackered to finish so I broke off some of the plastic from the bottom of the shroud to let it clear the bottom hoses and allow the fan turn without smashing it, but not enough to fit the drop brackets. Am I meant to trim up the fan shroud so it can drop down further?
• Centre console need to be put back together, and it won't go into low.
• I tried bashing the steering column but it wouldn't budge; its moved 1/4" under the dash and 1/8" in the engine bay. Ideally I'd like to even it out but that may not happen.
• Grille, bumper, lights etc to be re-fitted.
• I want to crank down the torsion bars so I'm not nose high.

But a satisfying days fettling and I'm whooped now and off for a beer

Well done mate. What bolts were to long? need to know for other kits.

If you take the lower half of the fan shroud off, (seeing as you broke it anyway!) you don't need the rad drop brackets, Linda's truck never had one, and its OK, and keeping the rad high always helps with filling it.

You need to massage the hole in the floor so the 4wd lever can go a little further forward, sometimes moving the rubber lever gaiters mounting holes slightly stops them getting bunched up.

Looks like a body lift could be the way to go for me rather than a suspension lift.

Can i ask were you got the lift kit ?

lol, no but the 4x2 formed a useful jacking block and I cut a channel the T piece (in pic 1) so the seam sat in it.

The centre bolts are about 1 1/2 to 2" too long. The thread doesn't go far enough to bolt back up and they'd stick too far down anyway, see pic 2 below the back of the front door.

I also needed some extra washers for the 4 bolts I reused from the back in the front mounts. I used a big socket to bash the washers off the existing bolts, but as they spline onto the bolt below the head they don't go all the way back on again. So a bigger internal diameter washer first allowed the existing washers to go back on. I needed to use them as my washers weren't big enough for the hole in the floor pan.

Tony, do you think the steering is fine as it is with 1/4" gap the biggest?

Body lift kit from TonyN, on top of a TJM suspension lift fitted by TonyN. 2"+2" (suspension and body lift) is the way to go!
