It's been in this evening! Been measuring up the adapters for the engine/trasmission mounts.

It's back on the bench now with transmission and transfer case all bolted together, christ it's huge, nearly 2 metres long!

Thanks for the offer of help, but I'm coping OK as I have my new hoist and a smoooooooth garage floor!!!

Just one thing sir, When you made your prop, did you get it balanced?

Nice to see someone else going 1UZ...

I think all the trial fitting and sump modding on mine is done now, Nigel is just trying to get the thing started before it goes off to the header shop but the Surf and Lexus electronics don't seem to be getting on.

I think I'll be using the original diesel tank and adding an external fuel pump. After spending a while trying to get my hands on a V6 Surf fuel tank and handbrake assembly I realised there's not much chance of me getting a decent price for either item and decided to make do with what I've got.

            I've bought one of these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...0675%26fvi%3D1 to drop inside my diesel tank, the 1UZ-FE has a pressure regulator on the engine.

The standard 2.4 handbrake can be used, just mount on the cabin side of the firewall.
I bought a complete car, LS400, and totally stripped it so I've got the complete engine/interior loom 'cos I'm gonna fit the Lexus dash as well.
Theres only six wires to connect up to get it running! The LS400 headers nick-named 'logs' fit with no modifications to the Surf's engine bay. The sump should clear everything as I'm dropping the front diff down with spacers, plus the steering damper brackets may need modifying.

Give me a shout if you need any pointers re: wiring.

Wiring to get the engine running....
EB2 connector is a 3 pin connector and is near the igniter
EB1 connector is a 6 pin connector and is near the igniter
IJ2 connector is 17 pin connector near the ECU is dark grey, has 2 rows of pins.

You need switched power to EB2(2). This is a black and orange wire.
You need switched power to EB2(3). This is a black and red wire
You need switched power to IJ2(11). This is a black and orange wire.

You need constant power to EB1(4). This is a black and yellow wire

To start you need to supply "start" power to EB2(1) which is a black wire.

Plus you'll need to work out what it takes to turn your fuel pump on, I think the signal wire to the tacho would do it.

I read this lot to Nigel down the phone a few weeks ago and he said none of the plugs I described were on my loom!

My donor was a Soarer and I sent the complete loom off to Venom to get stripped down to essentials and tested.

I also had the transmission stripped and rebuilt with the Surf tailshaft and housing to mate up the transfer case so I'm not sure if there's an electrical issue there preventing the motor from firing up.

There's no sign of mine starting as yet unforunately...

Ah yes, just thought, yours is the Soarer engine/loom.

I'll be back with the correct wiring soon.......

Think most of the wiring problems are being ironed out now so I'm just at the mercy of Nigel's schedule and the header shop's.

                        How far along are you?

Just out of interest can you use an aluminium fuel tank?
My mate got one made (it did sit inside the spare tyre hole inside the car he had at the time) but it only cost about 80 quid. Could you use that and just get it made to measure?
Or could you use a tropper tank, I remember seeing some guy on the ozzy forum use one of the as it was bigger than the surf one?

Sorry mate, no idea! Mine will use the diesel tank (well flushed) and an external pump as far as I know.

I was originally looking for the fuel tank off a V6 surf because it has an in-tank pump apparently. I didn't have any luck finding people breaking V6s as I wanted the handbrake assembly too.
