Done the 2" lift OK, with the blocks Vatchman kindly supplied me, hardest part was cutting em down to 2" as they were 4" to start with, tough stuff that, especially as i did em on a hand mitre saw! my question is what did you guys do about the steering shaft? i loosened both clamps and have the usual
1/2" gap on the splines, now im not sure if it would be best to have 1/4" either end or 1/2" on one of em, also the splines have a groove in em to take the bolts which have a shoulder on em that sits in this groove, with all the gap at the top it looks like there's only about 1/2" of spline left in the clamp,
dont really fancy the steering depending on only this bit so what did you guys do? also did you replace the bolts with slightly thinner ones as when i tried to wind one of the originals in its fouling on the splines and gonna bugger the thread,

i think we done mine by undoing the 2 under the bonnet and i think Mark also un-done the one under the dash also and let themselves adjust as it was lifted. Also i think TonyN said about using a small file to make the gap big enough for the original bolts to go back in.Don't forget about the hi/lo selector aswell Ian as you may have to take a bit out of the bodywork in order to get into lo ratio.I still ain't done mine yet since last year

Cheers Richard, i'll try fileing em out, feel safer with a small gap either end as opposed to all of it one end, yep got to sort that plate out, the center console's out and the plate all undone, did you have to make up anything for the rear bumper? assumeing you put it back on!

No we left the rear bumper on when mine was done.Did you get my pm Ian
you may find that there is some extra spline on the shaft under the dash aswell. It looked easy enough to get to anyway. Also you may need to file a bit of the bulkhead where the steering columb goes thru as the steering may be tight
            It's looking good so far

We think Apaches steering column joint was already adjusted by the previous owner for some reason.
Definitely didn't do any filing around the transfer lever though.

on mine i cant get it into low ratio as its catching on the bodywork or on the consol but i haven't taken anything off yet to check

I suppose if the transmission's rear mounting was worn, the rear of the trans would drop slightly causing the lever to rub.

how high did you lift apaches then vince.ian i would undo the bolts under the dash and at the bottom of the column.then let them self adjust so to speak.dont forget the fuel tank filler tube.and as richard says the trans tunnel by the high low selector and the grommet on the bulkhead where the column goes through.
