how do these front facing ducts on safari snorkels cope if you go through a big puddle and a big wave of water is thrown up over the truck?
or say a lorry goes past and throws a sheet of water over your truck
doesnt water get gulped into snorkel?

the landie ones i have seen have a kind of cowl over them to stop this happening

Must admit, I have been wondering this. I think all Safari snorkels have the air intake like mine, and ARB ones have the mushroom top.

I guess there'd be nothing stopping someone getting a mushroom top and fitting it to a Safari...
          It just does, OK?

            kind of found answer here:

            http://www.safari4x4.com.au/docs/snorkel/snorkel_qa.htm

explains how it stops raing getting in
but wonder how it would cope with a sheet of water thrown up by a vehicle
was thinking of this last night as drove home in torrential rain and drove through floods, even at low speeds, water thrown onto roof of truck

Never seem to have a problem with mine, although occasionally the air filter is a bit damp. If you're really worried you can turn the air intake to face backwards - quite common to see that done in the winter
