  • Another two years from now, there won't be any 2.4s left to worry about their viscous fans.

          Possibly.
Theoretically speaking, how much would one of my conversions be worth, i.e. just buying a truck already done rather than converting a customer supplied one?

p.s. nothing too flashy, just just a bog standard truck with a Lexus V-8/transmission, 2" bodylift and keeping the dash as standard.

I'd want to do the dash too. When my engine dies, I (or you) will V8ify mine.

No idea what it's worth, we spoke about £2k before, that felt about right?

Yeah, but I meant buying a truck already done. 2k was for converting a supplied truck.

Ah, I misunderstood. No idea, £3.5 - 4.0k? It's worth what someone will pay, eBay seems to be full of folk with more money than sense these days.

Two thou plus the cost of the Surf, Lexus, parts and transport etc. Plus a small percentage, of course.

                  • Just regarding fans, did find out the other day that Mondeo's with aircon appear to have a nice little dual fan setup on the rad. Haven't measured the fan diameters yet, but they appear to be around 12" to 13" units. I'll get the exact measurements later on. May be worthwhile having a peek at if anyone is considering the electric fan route.

One caveat though. I have three mondeo fan units here now, (yes, I'm collecting spare units), and they do appear to use whatever motors they can source at a given point in time. The dual fan unit seems to use the Bosch motor units, (flat housing assembly), whilst one of the others has a completely unsuitably sized motor housing for use in the Surf. (The motor housing protrudes quite a bit at the rear, to put it subtly).

Oh I'd love to be able to reply to this in two years time.

Did get some, but never fitted them. Can't remember exactly why, but I seem to recall there was a clearance issue with those motors and also the shroud assembly wasn't a straight forward job to adapt. Still got the motors/fans from it as spares though.
