  • Roca Snorkels

i mailed Overland 4x4 to see if they did

    one of these

    to fit a surf

they contacted the maker and need more info

    "Hi,

Sorry for the delay again in repling. The manufacturers are based in Spain so naturally the Surf (being ex-domestic Japanese RHD as you know) was not distrubted there hence a lack of knowledge on it. However, we do have snorkels for Hilux and 4 Runner which may fit. Can you please send us a picture of the vehicle and we will try to match it up? We alse need some details of the engine and the location of air filter if possible to ensure its the same as the other models.

It would be great if we can find a solution for you - as theres not a better looking snorkel on the market.

    Kind Regards,

    James"

does anyone know if the Hilux and 4 runner is the same??

i have told james i would post this on here as i know so little about these things

any info would help as i want one

you can contact them direct at info@overlandby4x4.com

True, but the 4runner was a 3 litre. The Surf is 2.4 or 3 litre. I don't know enough to say whether the air intakes (i.e. filter) are in the same places..

      It just does, OK?

The same Safari snorkel fits the 2.4 and 3.0 (diesel) 2nd gens. There are small differences in how the pipe work connects to the air box but they are not really significant. The petrol 4Runner is, I suspect, different but I'm not sure.

By the way, a Safari is around £150 so you've gotta like the look of those things

Safari snorkel looks far better and are cheaper too. Those Roca ones are very bulbous looking.

Mine came from Scorpion Racing around 18 months ago and was £150 ish (I think maybe postage was extra). I wouldn't think the Aussie dollar has changed that much since then

Found this American chap that has fit a safari snorkel to his 4Runner.

Done a nice write up too.

The Safarri ones look quite nice but for the price difference I think I will just build my own out of PVC pipe. My friend put one on his 4Runner and it cost about $15 Canadian. They really don't look to bad either if you do it nicely, he has a respirator mask over the end. I'll put a picture up soon since we got some good ones today after he got suck but before he fliped his truck over!!!! That wasn't fun.
