  • anyone got these?

    Hi folks,
Just bought a new big set of A bars from 4X4 accessories&tyres at Leeming Bar (North Yorks).
The bars are made by a company called AVENGER4X4Accessories.
The only problem is - there is no fitting instructions, just a plethora of nuts bolts and brackets.
I've sort of muddled through but I have a worrying amout of unused brackets and bolts left over. I think (hope) the residual fittings are for securing spots!
    Any ideas?
Old A bar (manuf's type - small A bar chrome) going spare - reasonable offers!

these left over parts are technicaly known as wee parts. the correct way to istall them is to collect them in your right hand, face your surf, make sure there are no windows behind you, and simply launch over your shoulder, shouting weeee is optional but can relieve a lot of stress if its been a long day.
            Diesel, like petrol only better

Finally worked out how to attach pictures so here goes. see previous post for info on picture content.

By the way - i contacted to manufacturer for assistance. He emailed me a copy of some roughly translated grecian instructions to the effect of "use brackets and bolts to attatch to cars" - my dog could have told me that - if he could talk!
              cheers

Hard to tell from your pics but are you sure the extra brackets are not additional support brackets. I recently fitted an A-Bar to my Surf, (different type) and it came with extra bracing brackets - see pics.

yeah - tried to fit these brackets in every conceveable way but each time was about 1/2 inch away from mating bolt holes. - may just be a not-so-universal fitting kit.
I'll just fashion one out a bit of tin or sumik!! BLUEPETERESQUE

Try moving the A-BAR backwards it should fit.

Tried to move it backwards this morning but now fouling on front fender. it seems i will have to mount the A bar inside the cab and drill my dash accordingly!!

                          hi Tricky Ricky,

yes the old bar is still here.
its in good condition with all mountings and bolts etc. Just ready to bolt on - unlike my new one!!
However, i would recommend mounting with new bolts.
I live in the north east ( UK). Could be posted unless you fancy a run out!

                            Hi Jaky Cakes,

By the look of things your original a-bar had angle brackets too that I presume you now don't need. DO they still exist and do you fancy selling them?

Looks like its similar to mine that I fitted recently, see here:
                              http://www.showmesome.info/hilux/workshop/a-bar.htm

The smaller-long L brackets on mine seemed to go from the front of the chassis (already screw-holes there that fitted the supplied bolts) to some small l-shaped brackets that were attached to one of the cross-members on the A-Bar.

Quite tricky to get to the front of the chassis but just about possible, plus the small L-brackets on the bar were mounted upside down! it took me about half an hour of offering up brackets in every concievable position before I worked that out!
                              No longer a Surf owner.
