Your not the first person to say that to me! I just used an m12 x50 8.8 bolt with a couple of spring washers and a nylock nut(to be sure)
Most of the load will be held by the main bolt.

Not really up to speed on this sort of mod, what is the reasoning behind this bracket? Certainly looks a lot different with the panhard rod sitting horizontal like that.
The rod works best when paralell to the ground, if its at an angle, the axle will move from side to side more as the suspension moves up or down, when it starts level, it can go up and down further before being pulled left or right.

                Grrr....

Still waiting for my drop bracket from Explorer. Ordered it 3 weeks ago. They're being coated at the moment apparantly.

Surf's out of action until I get it really. Although I've read on here that you can pull the axel across with truck straps to get the rod back on the axel. Is this a good idea? Or should I just wait it out .

I managed to pull my panhard rod back across using a scissor jack and length of chain. If you can get some mates to push the side of the Surf over a little while you lie underneath and align the bolt- that might work too!

When installing mine, i had to drill this hole also. All i did was bolt the bracket in. Take the right hand wheel off, so you can get a drill at the original rod bracket. This bit is very precise. I placed my thumb where i wanted to drill and my index finger on the other side and into the hole in the new bracket. I opened and closed my fingers a couple of times and drilled where my thumb matched my finger. Best to close your eyes when matching them up as your eyes might lead you astray. When i drilled the hole it matched up perfectly. Think it was a 12mm bit! You may think i'm insane, but it worked for me.
Drilling the new hole(s) can be tricky as it would be easy to get them in the wrong place. I used 'best guess' technique and was within 1mm of where I wanted to be!

I've been running our trucks like that for years, Although I'm getting a stock of these to fit if people want them when I fit springs, they're fine without them.

All you need to do is get someone to lean on the side of the truck, and wiggle it, till the bush slips over the shaft.

You might find thought that the rear axle does no align with the front, so this is why its best to correct it with this mod, or have an adjusable one like mine.

Hmmm...could you not just cut the panhard rod, sleeve it and then weld it? This is what I'm thinking of doing if I lift my 3rd gen
