  • Rear Wiper Arm Replacement

    Hey all,

Is there some trick to getting the rear wiper arm off? I need to replace mine, I finally got the nut off (it had rusted in), but I can't pull the arm off - is there a trick, or is it just difficult, or is it just seized in like the nut was?

Pain in the arse, I'm telling you

The arm should fit onto a splined shaft as with other wiper arms. These can be very difficult to remove if corroded. There's a product down here called Freeze & Release. Spray it on and it should free up rusted fittings. Anything like that where you are? Otherwise a bit of penetrating oil or WD40 and let it soak in. You could also try Butane Gas from a refill can. Just push nozzle against the shaft for arm, then apply a little WD40 then the gas again. Butane gas comes out pretty cold. Don't smoke while doing this. Not sure what's in the Freeze & Release but maybe it's butane and a lubricant? You may still need to apply a little leverage on the arm or possible use a small two jaw puller.

    Nev.
