engine change in 3l turbo diesel

Hi guys we are attempting to change the engine and gearbox in my 94 3litre turbo diesel auto and are not having a great time!! What's the easiest way to do it - i.e engine and box out together all in one or gearbox first then engine ?? Any pointers would be very greatly appreciated!! Merry Christmas
