I'm baffled and amazed how it can suddenly go after a total of under 200 miles since being perfectly fine last weekend. I honestly thought the rad swap had cured it.

The heads can go on for miles with cracks in them, but when the engine is pushed too hard and the temps creep up, they open up bigger/wider and it's game over. The rad just delayed the inevitable a tad longer.

      I guess you're right!

So Mr Bushwhacker is it the roughtrax AMC or do you suggest any alternatives?

I'm currently saving for the amc. It's the one to have plus it's cheaper at the moment.
well, that was a bad idea!

I went for the AMC one as well it all seems well made.
You will need a few extra bits that don't come in the kit though,
I think I made a list in my thread "off with the head" go and have a look.
          EDIT
I've just bumped the thread up with some pics of my digital temp gauge.
It's in the 3.0 turbo diesel section

                Ok the head is off!!!!

But I'm worrying about the Pistons!!

They have a line across them! I can't find a picture on the tinterweb, that shows them like this!!

                Is this normal???

If you're happy they aren't cracks and the bores are ok then go for it, check you don't have to much side to side rock on the pistons in the bores as well. maybe these are aftermarket pistons from an engine rebuild years ago?

Just lack of time is holding up the progress!!

But exciting news!!!! The new diff bits are in the water at the moment! Should be here soon!!
