  • Uneven Tyre Wear Even After Tracking Has Been Done.

I have had my tracking done twice. On the second occasion the garage checked for movement in the steering/suspension by jacking the body up and getting me to move the steering.
Despite all of the above I am still getting uneven tyre wear. Originally it was the inside of the offside tyre. Now it is the inside of the nearside tyre. Its approximately a 1" band of wear.
BTW. I have replaced the steering idler arm bushes.
    It's only a hobby!

They looked up the data for the 1992 4Runner. The guy said he has done them for the Jap Import Centre and had no probs. He had obviously done a few becuase he had the blow torch ready before he touched the tracking adjusters!

I have exactly the same problem with mine.

Inner wear to the front tyres about 1 inch width.

Took it to Main Dealer and back again but it is still the same. What's more, the car has a slight pull to the left when driving and now the steering wheel doesn't line up properly when driving in a straight line.

Don't really want to have to take it back to them ( dont know what they are doing the cowboys) but will try to find some one in Sussex who knows what they are up to.

            Anyone can help-please!!!!

Long time CHERYL where have you been !. you need it tracked using a 4 wheel tracking laser alignment system to get it accurate. A reputable tyre specialist should be able to help

Right. I took the above information with me. The guy said that matched the info he had found on their PC. He used a laser tracking/wheel alignment system. They were also highly recommended by several peeps in the trade.
If I let go of the steering wheel the truck keeps a nice straight line and no longer tries to follow the tram lines on the M/Way. I know my bruv lets me have tyres at cost but if I carry on like this I will be wearing a set a year!!!!!

Phil, just a thought you said a while back your truck sits up at the back like a dragster may be this is effecting things at the front??

Sounds like mine - I'm assuming someone wound the torsion bars down before I got it. I have an off-centre steering wheel and it pulls to the left.

I've not noticed tyre wear yet. I'm hoping to get the tracking done but apparently the track rod ends are seized on pretty badly so I'm going to get them replaced.

I would look at the front torsion bar adjustment, they need to be even.

                      This should help http://www.off-road.com/toyota/tech/torsion/

                      Rich.
If life's an uphill struggle then downhill from now on can't be that bad?!

                        Hi marky!!
Yep, I'm back again! Summer is a very busy time for me-lots going on and hardly any time for anything else!
I've been on the Boxa.net forum a few times ( yes my other car is a porsche) but I'm glad to be able to spend a little more time on here now.
My Surf is still going great apart from this pulling to the left problem. You'd think that the Main Dealer here would be able to fix it. All I got from them ( after returning it twice) was that it's a characteristic of the Surf! Really? I may be a girlie but I know b/s when I hear it and besides-why has it only occured recently then?!
So now I will have to find someone with a laser alignment system in the area as you suggested and let them fix it.
Anyway, enough of me-how are you keeping?

Show us girls the mud and we'll show you boys a good time!!!

It's better on here than on the Boxa forum-the porker boys take themselves a bit too seriously.
