  • Hilux surf non-starter

Hi, iam new here and not really sure if iam in the right place but here goes, I have a 1994 hilux 3.0l surf and it cut out the other day, I manage to start it and drive it about 2 miles then it died and won't start at all now, I have changed the fuel filter and bleed the system, I let go of the injection pipes by the nut on the injector and I have fuel coming out, but iam not sure how much should come out? Any help would be great

Sounds just like mine was doing last year, turned out to be the aftermarket immobiliser.

Hi n welcome to the Forum Mark ...
Well done on changing ya filter, (ya didn't need to crack the injectors) ya could of just primed it (while somebody turned it over) but as ya have cracked the injectors (ya should only see a fine spay) while cranking the engine, (one at a time tho) ...
      Hope this helps

        3.0l non starter

hi all thanks for the reply. the immobliser is all working ok, i have diesel coming out of all four injectors but it dosent even try to start when turning over, the strange thing ( i think ) is it wont even run on easy start, it does try when spraying it but not very well. ( i have use easy start on a lot of vehicles and have always managed to start the vehicles weather petrol or diesel and can run the engine as long as you keep spraying it in the mainifold , and yes i do know its not good to run an engine just on easy start ) even after the above i have checked the timing belt & the keyways. it just seems to be electrical, do they have a tdc sensor / pick up like the 2.4s ? i havent checked the small filters in the injection pump as there seems to be enough diesel getting to the injectors.

        many thanks mark

crank shaft position sensor its just above the starter motor
it happened to me just as you describe mine was hanging out a bit
if you take it out be careful once you got the ten mm bolt out you
have to twist the unit to come out
          worth a look
