Look what came out of my Rear Diff

Evening all,

After discovering i have a Limited Slip Diff on the back of my Gen2, i thought it best to change the oil - to make sure it had the right stuff in

Look what i found in the drained oil!



It looks like part of a planet wheel tooth to me, but i'm really glad i found it and got it out before it really FUBARed the diff.

It seems to be running fine though.

This has got me thinking though, if i were to loose more teeth, or worse case, the whole thing goes belly up, what options do i have?

Can i buy new LSD innards for a surf real diff? If so where from?

If its running ok, no noises or clunks I'd just change the oil a couple of
times over the next few hundred miles or so.

Looks like bits of crown wheel in the pics, maybe pinion but matters not
as they would both need replacing anyway.

If the diff dies your best option is to fit a second hand unit off a breaker.
