Rear diff

Hi all

I noticed a little oil on and around the pressure release valve on the rear diff, I think that's what it is. I undid the bolt on the rear diff to check the oil level, some oil dribbled out but there was a lot of hissing when I undid the bolt. Is it normal for this too happen? also how does the pressure build up?

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks for the offer. I made something up in the workshop and extended the breather.
