Moving spare wheel

I'd prefer to replace my stolen Surf with another one that had the spare 'wheel up' hidden under the rear but most of the vehicles here for sale in NZ have the rear door mounting.

How big a deal would it be to convert a rear mount to underneath? Are all the mechanisms and mountings already in place under all vehicles?
