You will be fine with that, get a few of them, top up with the 4.5L he drained, drive for around 100 miles, drain again, top up with fresh ATF. Then every time you do an engine oil change, drain and refill ATF to keep it fresh.
Ok.. Oil arrived yesterday DIII. It only took a day to arrive, from placing order, so good service there..
Now, how long after putting it in, will I get an accurate reading..?
I know the engine has to be running, before I have a look..
Run it up, select all the gears...check the level...if it's over minimum and selects gears go for a short spin to warm it up...check again.
Hopefully all will be well....torque converter should really be filled before running it up (when rebuilding) so hopefully yours didn't completely empty itself.
