Hi all
I have just made a rather interesting discovery, have been getting a rather heavy bump from under the front seats when going round corners lately, I also found that the nearside Anti Roll Bar link had failed, while I could not find a connection to these initially I think I may have now as replacing the link rod has cured the other. On having a really good pull and push around I have found that the bottom of the gearbox mount rubbers have parted from the bracket and with a lever could lift the box up.
I am wondering that with the ARB link rod not working and the likelihood of more body to suspension movement whether this may have contributed to the gearbox mount failure?
Now I have replaced the link the bump has stopped even though I have not replaced the GB mount and I am wondering whether to change it or not given that the 2 mounting blocks form a good 'v' shaped cradle? I am considering in the short term lifting the rear of the gearbox and seeing if I can re-bond the mounting rubber with an epoxy or simillar.
What I am wondering is those of you risking there pride and joy turning turtle who have removed their ARB for what ever reason, has there been an increase in the number of gearbox mount fails?? ( or could it be it is because the spare is on the roof?) ;-)
Just for the record my spare is under the rear!
What do you guys think??
