  • Radiator Advice Needed

Have had my 1992 LN130 with 2LTE engine for about two weeks and love it to bits. However, have been noticing a small amount of greenish oily fluid on bonnet seal every time I open it up. Suspected coolant and hoped that someone had spilt it when servicing.

Ran it tonight with bonnet up and after 5 mins noticed leak from hairline crack in radiator header. Doesn't appear to be in a stressed area or anywhere near a seam.

When engine cools you can hear the crack sucking in air. Made me wonder whether its a plumbing job with some solder and a turboflame but don't want to be worrying about it suddenly opening up and all the pain that could bring.

Anyone got any experience of this and / or know of a durable fix ?. Can radiator specialists weld in situ ?. May have to refer it back to dealer if it looks like an expensive job.

This seems to be a common fault, seems that jap copper is somthing like dry playdoe!
Quite a few people have had them repaired but they all seem to go again before long.
New ones from roughtrax are £250 for a manual one.
and £265 for an auto one.
they do re-con ones for £165 and you have to send in the old one.

If you want a Toyota one it will set you back about £380.

If you have only had it 2 weeks i would get the dealer to have a new one fitted as it is only going to get worse, and as said before repairs dont seem to hold for long.
