Flushing cooling system

Ive read threads about flushing the cooling system instead of just replacing the coolant but what i want to know is if the rear heater will be flushed at the same time? Im guessing the rear heater pipes are just piggybacked off the front heater? Curious as ive not long had the truck and want to replace all fluids and filters for peace of mind.
As for coolant, do people bother to put the oem green/red coolant in or do people just get regular coolant off the shelf as such? I can get hold of coolant through work which is used in high hp tractors so thinking this would be more than adequate.

Coolant needs to match the toyota spec.
The toyota coolant gives protection down to -36'c.
Check the rear heater is still connected, if not you may find the lines to the rear heater are corroded to the extent that no flow is possible.

Ok ill check the spec of what i can get. Rear heater still connected and actually gives out good heat but still want to flush to remove any gunk that may be in there, cheers.

I flushed the cooling system as a precaution. before installing new coolant.
now the rear heater is refreshingly COLD.

guess all the flushed muck has blocked rear pipes or matrix

will investigate one day

Flushed the cooling system on another of my cars last week.

Was recommended to use dishwasher powder. After a "what are you kidding me?" moment, a debate on the forum turned out chemical, other products, people already doing this etc etc was all positive. So gave it ago and worked a treat...the car I used it on had been sitting for a very long time and was full of sludge. First flush was straight water leaving sludge...second with dishwasher powder shifted nicely.

That is not good at all ....

I was expecting a bit watery as i did give it a good run before dumping the oil but not quite as much as it was, could of been the wrong oil? Ive filled it back up with a semi 10w40. The oil filter didnt look that old but as ive just bought it would rather start from fresh. Just the cooling system and atf to do.
