too slow gaining speed during acceleration

Hello everybody...got this my SSR Limited 1990 3Y-E engine 2.0 Ltr. petrol. This is a manual 5 speed but the unit runs slow during acceleration from 1st to 5th gear.Is this normal to SSR Limited because its take time before you reach the speed of 100km/h. Is this normal or anyone knows out there how to correct this problem. Thanks!
