4wd light staying on, still in 4wd?

Hi new to the forum, new to surfing.
Sold my disco and bought a 95 Surf 3.0 auto.
There was no owners manual so did the clever thing, whats this do,push it find out!!
The 4wd button on side of hi/lo stick, pushed it green fwd light came on.
pushed again,nothing still there.
As I'm parked in a tarmac yard some distance from the slippy stuff don't want to drive, Is there any safe way I can check to see if its still in 4wd or if its a light malfunction. Is it an easy repair or a garage job. Help plse. Jed

If it's still there then just rock it forward and back and it should drop out of 4WD. If not then you definitely do have problems.

As for what they are, it could be a number of things.



As it's now a day later, you may have already worked this out, in which case, sorry for the delay in replying to you.

For future reference; you can drive it in 4WD on the tarmac for testing things like this out, a few metres isn't going to hurt.

You'll soon know if its stuck in 4wd, just trying to drive round a corner will feel horrible.

Green 4wd light

Thanks for your help. Did what you advised and rocked her back and forward.
Light went out now back in two wheel drive.
Talked to the guy I bought it from apparently can't remember last time it was used in 4wd. Only use was a 3 mile trip to railway station morning and night!
Hopefully will get some use now.
